Q39

Consider the following statements: I. Cancellation charges levied by the airline and by the Authorised Travel Agent's portal are reimbursed only on grounds of official exigency. II. Tours conducted by the India Tourism Development Corporation and by State Tourism Development Corporations, in their own or hired buses, qualify for LTC. III. An employee who has no official email identity cannot be registered by the Authorised Travel Agents. Which of the statements are correct?

  1. (a) I and II only
  2. (b) I and III only
  3. (c) II and III only
  4. (d) I, II and III
Answer (a).

I and II are correct: both classes of cancellation charge are reimbursable only where the cancellation arose from official exigency, and tours by the India Tourism Development Corporation and the State Tourism Development Corporations in their own or hired buses qualify for LTC. III is wrong, since such an employee may be registered if the office supplies his name, employee code, private email and mobile number. (b) retains the incorrect bar on employees without an official email; (c) drops the official exigency condition; (d) accepts all three despite the registration facility.

Q22

Match List-I with List-II with reference to the definition of family and select the correct answer using the code given below:

List-I (Category) List-II (Condition)
A. Wife or husband 1. Wholly dependent, whether residing with the Government servant or not
B. Parents and step-parents 2. Divorced, abandoned, separated or widowed, residing with and wholly dependent
C. Unmarried minor brothers 3. No dependency test applies
D. Married daughters 4. Residing with and wholly dependent, parents not alive or themselves dependent
  1. (a) A-3, B-1, C-4, D-2
  2. (b) A-1, B-3, C-2, D-4
  3. (c) A-3, B-4, C-1, D-2
  4. (d) A-1, B-4, C-3, D-2
Answer (a).

Rule 4(d) treats husband and wife as one unit with no dependency test; parents and step-parents qualify if wholly dependent, whether they live with the Government servant or not; unmarried minor brothers must reside with him and be wholly dependent, with parents not alive or themselves dependent; married daughters qualify only if divorced, abandoned, separated or widowed and residing with and dependent on him. (b) subjects the spouse to a dependency test; (c) swaps the residence conditions of parents and brothers; (d) again applies a dependency test to the spouse.

Q30

Consider the following statements: I. LTC for an escort accompanying a single handicapped Government servant travelling alone is allowed, subject to conditions. II. Where both husband and wife are Government servants, each may claim separately for self and dependants, provided the same dependant is not claimed twice for the same journey. III. Where the family lives away from the headquarters, LTC may be allowed from their actual place of residence. Which of the statements are correct?

  1. (a) I and II only
  2. (b) II and III only
  3. (c) I and III only
  4. (d) I, II and III
Answer (d).

All three statements are correct. The escort facility for a single handicapped Government servant travelling alone is admissible on the prescribed conditions; two Government spouses may claim separately so long as no dependant is claimed twice for the same journey; and where the family resides away from headquarters the journey may be reckoned from their actual place of residence. (a) omits the residence-based reckoning for a family living away; (b) omits the escort facility; (c) omits the bar on double claiming by two Government spouses.
