Digital Education & Digital Literacy Platforms
DIKSHA, SWAYAM, SWAYAM Prabha, NDEAR, PM eVIDYA, NISHTHA, UDISE+, PMGDISHA — every portal sorted into six buckets by who uses it, with the launch dates, full forms and counts the paper asks for.
HOW TO ORGANISE THIS TOPIC IN YOUR HEAD
There are dozens of portals with confusing names. Do not memorise them as a list. Sort them into six buckets by who uses them and for what:
| Bucket | Platforms | Used by |
|---|---|---|
| 1. The architecture | NDEAR, PM eVIDYA | The system itself |
| 2. School learning content | DIKSHA, SWAYAM Prabha, e-Pathshala, NROER, e-Jaadui Pitara | Students & teachers, Classes 1–12 |
| 3. Higher education & MOOCs | SWAYAM, SWAYAM Plus, NPTEL, NDLI, SATHEE | College students, lifelong learners |
| 4. Teacher training | NISHTHA (on DIKSHA), CIET/NCERT resources | Teachers |
| 5. Governance & data | UDISE+, Vidya Samiksha Kendra, PRABANDH, Shaala Darpan, PARAKH, PGI portals, Vidyanjali | Administrators — this is your bucket as a Vice Principal |
| 6. Digital literacy proper | PMGDISHA, NDLM/DISHA, CSCs, ULLAS | Citizens, especially rural adults |
The distinction examiners test most: digital education = delivering the curriculum through technology. Digital literacy = teaching people to use technology. PMGDISHA is digital literacy; DIKSHA is digital education.
