NCF-SE 2023 — National Curriculum Framework for School Education
The framework for ages 3–18, read from the document: the five aims, the Curricular Goals of every subject at every stage, the school day and the hours each subject gets, Grade 10 and 12 structure, board-exam reforms and the promotion rules.
WHY THIS NOTE EXISTS
Both 2022 papers were set before this framework existed — the Principal paper on 17 July 2022, the Vice Principal paper on 11 December 2022, the framework released on 23 August 2023. They reached the area through NEP 2020 and NCF 2005:
| 2022 item | What it tested |
|---|---|
| pyq2022p-q067 | Who prepared NCF 2005 — a National Steering Committee and 21 National Focus Groups |
| pyq2022p-q076 | The stage for NEP's fun course and 10-day bagless period — the Middle Stage |
| pyq2022p-q086 | What the first five years of 5+3+3+4 consist of |
| pyq2022-q061 | What NEP says the curriculum framework for adult education includes |
The 2026 paper is the first that can ask this framework itself.
The lesson for your study time: frameworks are asked as structure and numbers — who made it, how many aims, capacities and curricular areas, which subject sits in which group, how many board examinations, how long a period lasts. Parts 1, 7, 8, 9 and 14 carry most of what can be asked.
- Much of what circulates was written from the pre-draft of 6 April 2023, whose lists and numbers changed before the release. Every fact here is from the released text; PART 19 lists the pre-draft versions as traps.
- The Foundational Stage (ages 3–8) is taught in full in the companion note NCF-FS 2022. This note gives what the NCF-SE itself says about that stage, including its 13 Curricular Goals.
Where to find what you need: school days, hours and minutes for each subject → PART 14. The Curricular Goals of every subject at every stage → PART 7. The Foundational Stage's 13 goals and the stage design → PART 8. Board examinations and the rules for promotion → PART 9.
